What's Policosanol ?

Rice picturesPolicosanol is a long-chain aliphatic alcohol composed of 20 or more carbons.
It is contained as a wax component in grains such as rice and sugar cane.

 

 

Effect of policosanol

Policosanol lowers small dense LDL cholesterol level.

Small dense LDL cholesterol is said to cause arteriosclerosis.

Improves liver function

Policosanol lowers the liver function markers.

Liver function markers are indicators of liver damage.

Acceleration of aldehyde decomposition

Acetaldehyde is said to be the causative agent of hangover.
Blood acetaldehyde concentration at 180 min after consumption of alcohol is below the detection limit.
