Development of DX human resources

DX Human Resources Development Program

Based on its DX strategies and challenges, NOF focuses on developing DX human resources to establish a framework in which each division and location autonomously promotes DX. Development program participants are selected from each division and location and classified into three personnel types: “DX Promoters,” “Data Utilization Promoters,” and “System Personnel.” To help them acquire the necessary expertise and skills, we provide, in addition to the standard program, individualized training based on participant survey results, thereby offering learning opportunities tailored to each person’s challenges and needs. In the third phase of the development program, 64 employees are participating in the DX Human Resources Development Program. Those who complete the program are certified as “DX Human Resources” and issued a “Digital Certificate.” Furthermore, 53 “DX Experts” selected from among the DX human resources play a central role in our DX promotion activities.

This diagram outlines the DX talent development program, which consists of three phases: candidate selection, role-specific training, and program evaluation. In the candidate selection phase, participants are chosen from various departments and units, and talent assessments—including skill surveys and questionnaires—are conducted to identify their current skill levels and areas for improvement. Next, the role-specific training phase builds upon a foundation of DX literacy training for all participants by offering three specialized programs tailored to specific roles: DX promoters receive training on the fundamentals of DX planning, business model research, proposal story creation, and personal data protection; data utilization promoters study the basics and applications of data science as well as security in a digital society; and system personnel are trained in the fundamentals of system development and networking. Finally, the program evaluation phase illustrates the process of periodically assessing and reviewing the program.

Overall Schedule for the DX Human Resources Development Program (Third Phase)

The DX Human Resources Development Program operates on a one-year cycle. In the third phase of the development program, participants were selected in December 2025, and basic and advanced training was conducted through August 2026. After confirming participants’ proficiency through comprehension checks and skill assessments, we will review the development program. New development program participants and DX Experts will be selected in December 2026, and the next program is scheduled to begin. The DX Experts lead DX promotion activities in their divisions and locations by participating in the “DX Liaison Meeting” and other activities.

This schedule diagram illustrates the overall timeline and process for the third cohort of the DX talent development program. In the upper section (DX Talent track), following a selection process in late November 2025, participants undergo a

DX Liaison Meeting

With the Information Systems Department serving as the secretariat, the “DX Liaison Meeting” is held four times a year, with the DX Experts as its primary members. In FY2025, activities included monitoring the status of company-wide DX initiatives, exchanging information among the DX Experts, and sharing expertise. We also launched “DX Portal” as a company-wide information platform and shared the results of “Project Planning Training,” in which the DX Experts participated jointly, as well as progress on activities to transform the LS Aichi Plant into a smart factory.
We also shared DX initiatives at individual divisions and locations, including a case involving the use of a video creation tool and a case involving greater efficiency in order processing at
the Daishi Plant.

This diagram illustrates the organizational roles and information flow within the DX Liaison Group. At the lowest level, DX experts are selected from operational sites across the company—including business divisions, factories, and various departments. The middle level consists of the DX Liaison Group, where these selected experts gather to exchange information and share know-how regarding practical DX implementation; they consolidate insights on business processes and digital technologies to invigorate and efficiently drive company-wide DX initiatives. At the top level, the Information Systems Department serves as the secretariat, overseeing and coordinating DX efforts. Arrows indicate a collaborative structure linking the levels, facilitating the communication of overall policies, alignment of direction, support for specific projects, and the monitoring of DX needs, challenges, and progress across the various operational sites.

Development of a data utilization environment

To realize innovation and improved productivity through data utilization, we will develop the underlying environment. In addition to infrastructure development, we are also looking into the development of a data management system, including rules and organization. By establishing these environments and systems, we will optimize manufacturing processes, improve defect rates, optimize inventories, automate production planning, conserve energy, streamline R&D operations, promote the use of intellectual property, strengthen preventive maintenance, promote occupational safety and health, visualize skills, and pass on know-how.

This diagram illustrates the future vision of the data utilization environment. The lower section represents data—ranging from core business and customer management systems operating in various divisions and factories to information digitized from paper records and tacit knowledge—that is consolidated under established rules regarding data ownership, accountability, and access controls. This data is integrated across the organization into a centralized, company-wide data utilization environment. Arrows indicate the flow toward the visualization of this integrated data via graphs and analytical tools, leading to a comprehensive framework that fosters innovation—such as advanced individual analysis and accelerated development of new technologies and products—and enhances cross-organizational management.

Generative AI Utilization Strategy

In FY2025, the use of generative AI became increasingly widespread within the Company, with monthly active users reaching at least 80%. As individual employees incorporated it into their work, STEP 1, individual utilization to streamline routine work, became firmly established. The “Generative AI Utilization Promotion Liaison Meeting,” which is responsible for promoting its use, was also held four times in FY2025. This liaison meeting was established when the introduction of generative AI was being considered and, following its company-wide introduction, serves as a forum for sharing generative AI utilization status and expertise. Major activities included presenting revisions to the “Generative AI Usage Guidelines” and activities under the use case creation program. Based on these initiatives, during the period of the 2028 Mid-Term Management Plan, we will work to achieve STEP 2, business improvement through integration into workflows, and prepare for STEP 3, business transformation through the use of internal data.

This diagram outlines the future outlook for leveraging generative AI, broken down into three steps and corresponding action items. Step 1 focuses on streamlining daily tasks through individual use of conversational generative AI—such as drafting emails, summarizing content, translating, and brainstorming—across the entire workforce; this phase is currently centered on adoption and expansion. Step 2 targets operational improvements using AI agents; this involves integrating AI into specific workflows and reviewing processes across all departments, with the goal of achieving these objectives by the end of the 2028 Medium-Term Management Plan. Step 3 entails business transformation through a proprietary AI environment; this targets the company-wide and executive levels, utilizing internal data to generate management decision-making metrics, with preparations advancing within the timeframe of the 2028 Medium-Term Management Plan. Listed at the bottom are the specific action items corresponding to each step: promoting the development of AI agents and evaluating the implementation of a proprietary AI environment.
