Environmental Impact of Plants

The following tables summarize the environmental impact of NOF plants and works.

Note:
1. Total emissions of greenhouse gases such as CO2, CH4, and N2O are expressed as CO2-equivalent emissions.
2. Progress on achieving companywide environmental targets in three areas (unit energy consumption, volume of waste sent to landfill and the recycling ratio) take fiscal 1991 as the base year, expressed as 100.
3. For PRTR substances, only substances with total annual emissions of more than 1 ton have been listed.
4. Annual emissions of dioxins from facilities specified by the Special Measures Law for Dioxins are expressed as TEQ units.

The Daishi Plant, NOF's new food manufacturing plant.

· The main plant for our food business, previously the Oji Plant in Tokyo’s Kita Ward, has moved to the new Daishi Plant, completed in June 2004 in Kawasaki City’s Keihin Waterfront Industrial District.
· The Daishi Plant ensures the supply of safe food products that engender peace of mind. We have installed HACCP-compliant equipment and a barcode control system enabling traceability from the raw material stage to the finished product.
· Based on results achieved for fiscal 2005, the Daishi Plant will work to improve environmental performance based on new targets.
